Deck the Halls with Greens, Berries and Other Garden Treasures
For a quick and inexpensive way to decorate your home for the holidays, go out in your garden and clip away!
For my holiday mantel decor, I chose podocarpus branches and toyon berries. Add a few gold ornaments and a candle, and the mantel is ready for Christmas!
Other garden clippings that make good decorations:
- Cuttings of pine, cedar, cypress, eucalyptus
- Berries from nandina, pyracantha
- Seed pods and pine cones

Legend has it that early residents of southern California were inspired by the beautiful red berries of the toyon to call their new place of residence ‘holly’ wood!
